Do you have a dental emergency?

A dental emergency can be the result of an accident or injury, but it can also be the result of a need to get treatment that you have been putting off for a while. Pain is your body's signal that something is wrong, and means that it is time for you to seek treatment from Dr. Regni.

Here are some of the things that should be considered a dental emergency, plus some simple steps you can take to minimize pain before you come into our office for your emergency appointment.

Toothache -- Rinse your mouth out with warm water. Then use dental floss to make sure there isn't any food or other debris causing the pain. Call our emergency number 866-231-0456, and we will make sure that you are seen right away.

Bitten Lip or Tongue -- Clean the area and apply an ice pack to reduce swelling. If the bleeding doesn't stop, come into our office to see Dr. Regni right away or go to a hospital emergency room.

Broken Tooth -- Save any pieces of the broken tooth and rinse your mouth out with warm water. Apply a cold compress to the area to decrease swelling and pain until you can come in to see Dr. Regni.

Broken Jaw -- Apply a cold compress to limit swelling and see Dr. Regni immediately.

Knocked Out Tooth -- Gently rinse off the knocked out tooth without removing any attached tissue. If possible, hold the tooth in place in the socket. Otherwise, put the tooth in a glass of milk and come in to see Dr. Regni immediately.

Object Stuck in Teeth -- Carefully try to remove the object with dental floss. (Don't try using a sharp instrument instead!) If you're unable to dislodge the object with dental floss, call our office for an emergency appointment.

Lost Dental Filling or Dental Crown -- Call our emergency line, 866-231-0456 for an emergency appointment. For dental fillings, seal the area with a piece of sugarless gum or over-the-counter dental cement. If a dental crown has come loose, seal it with dental cement, and bring it with you to your appointment.

Dental Abscess -- If you notice a painful, pimple-like swelling on your gums, rinse with salt water and immediately contact our office at 866-231-0456. Dental abscesses can lead to more serious infections if not treated promptly.

TESTIMONIAL

Elizabeth Knudson

Elizabeth Knudson"I have been Dr. Regni’s patient for over 20 years.  His professional manner and concern for the patient keep me coming back.  He has been so good to me and my family over the years, and has been willing to go the exta mile for us.

"For example, one evening I had a dental emergency and Dr. Regni arrived at the office on his way to a wedding. It’s the only time I’ve been treated by a dentist in a tuxedo!

"In another instance, my daughter, who was two hours away at college, developed an impacted wisdom tooth. Dr. Regni waited for her to get back to Philadelphia and came back to his office at 10:00 p.m. to treat her.

"It’s no wonder he’s the 'dentist of choice' for my daughter and me."
